This is an exceptional exhibit including many, but no all, the Photographs that made Richard Avedon one of best known and appreciated fashion photographers of 50's & 60's. What are included are his photographs of Marilyn Monroe, Truman Capote Twiggy, Brigitte Bardot, the "Duke & Duchess of Windsor , Bob Dylan and many others. As well there are copies of some of his better known Fashion photographs of such as Suzy Parker “the world first supermodel” which featured magazine Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. There are also copies from “In the American West” published in 1985 which were photographs of ordinary people he found in small town west & Midwest.
In library they showed the PBS episode of “American Masters” on Richard Avedon in which is discussed his development and Philosophy. All in all it is most see exhibition.
Up starts in the same building in a small exhibit by the artist Josef Albers “Formulation: Articulation” this is truly interesting to anyone who is tried understand how dark verse light colors and shades effect how shapes are preserved.
